Dr Shinichi Suzuki dedicated his life to educating children through the violin. His aim was to nurture loving human beings and set high expectations from birth.
Learning to play the violin requires development of fine neurological pathways. Children are required to listen, memorize and convert music to finite motor skills in order to produce a beautiful tone.
Suzuki believed that talent is not inborn but can be taught through constant repetition, patience and gentle guidance from a young age. His method is therefore often referred to as ‘talent education’

I started to learn violin in the 1970s at the age of 6 with my Suzuki violin teacher Colin Green in Salford .
